West Midland Safari Park
My girlfriend and I have been meaning to visit West Midlands Safari Park for about a year now, and last Sunday we finally went.
I’m not the best person to be driving around a safari park, as I will often get annoyed with other drivers taking their time or hogging an ideal location for a perfect snapshot of the animals.
The park has a wide selection of animals to see as you drive through:
- African Elephants
- African Wild Dogs
- Ankole Cattle
- Blackbuck Antelope
- Cheetahs
- Deer
- Giraffe
- Humped Bactrian Camels
- Lions
- Ostrich
- Rhinoceros
- Tigers
- Water Buffalo
- Zebra
We bought a packet of deer and goat feed, as Francesca wanted to feed the deer, which attracted a lot of attention to my car. There was one ostrich that had chosen to sit on the edge of the road on a bend, so I pulled up right alongs side it to say hello.
After the drive around the safari park, we ventured into the wildlife and entertainment park to see a few of the animal talks and shows. Francesca was very interested in the bat enclosure (she happened to be wearing a batman hoodie). Feeding the penguins was fun, watching them jumping up and swimming around by the glass to get at the fish.
The most entertaining moments for me were the few rides that we when on; Wild River Rafting, Zambezi Water Splash, Dr Umboto’s Catacombs and the Pirate Ship (which Francesca did not like one bit).
Overall we both had a great day out, and we have a 2nd visit ticket, which we will be using in the summer.
