Which to choose?

I want to go on a long weekend city break sometime within the next few months. At the moment I’m torn between Paris and Venice the reasons you can probably guess but here is a short list of things I would like to do in both cities.

Reasons to choose Paris

• See the traffic round the Arc de Triomphe
• Buy a book at Shakespeare and Company Bookshop
• See the art in The Louvre
• Take a walk through Les Passages Couverts
• Take a photo of the Eiffel Tower
• Hear the bells at Notre-Dame
• See how the aristocracy lived at La Conciergerie
• Go a bit gothic at Sainte-Chapelle
• Delve into Les Catacombes
• Visit with the dead at Père Lachaise
• See a show at the Moulin Rouge

Reasons to choose Venice

• Count the angels at St Mark’s Basilica
• Behave myself in the Doge’s Palace
• Get the time from Torre dell’Orologio
• Ride a Gondola
• Ride a Vaporetto on the Grand Canal
• Experience Carnevale
• Cross the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto)
• Look at some art at Galleria dell’Accademia
